Maricopa Sandlot is more than a softball club — it’s a place where young athletes learn to love the game, grow their skills, and develop the character that will carry them far beyond the field. Founded by Mike O'Dell in 2015 with a commitment to teaching the fundamentals the right way, we focus on building confident, capable players who understand that success comes from effort, integrity, and teamwork.

We believe softball is a powerful teacher. Every practice, every rep, and every game is an opportunity for players to learn discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship. Our coaches will emphasize proper technique, game IQ, and steady skill development, but we also teach something even more important: how to be a great teammate and an overall good person.

At Maricopa Sandlot, athletes learn to put the team first, work hard for one another, and compete with honesty and respect. We hold our players to high standards — not just in how they play, but also in how they treat others. Respect for coaches, umpires, parents, fans, teammates and opponents is a core expectation, and we reinforce it in everything we do.

We are proud to create an environment where girls feel supported, challenged, and inspired. Our program is built on positive coaching, clear communication, and a belief that every player deserves the chance to grow, whether they are experienced and seasoned or brand new to the sport .

Maricopa Sandlot is also a community. Families, coaches, and players come together to celebrate effort, improvement, and the joy of playing the game. We want every athlete who wears our Sandlot colors to feel pride — not just in how they perform, but in how they represent themselves, their teammates, and The City of Maricopa.
